6-27-07 Zoo Tunes

Brandi Carlile - Seattle Zoo Tunes (small)

Concerts at the Zoo, take place on a general admission lawn. I arrived at noon, and totally planned on spending a boring day reading….. instead, time flew. Brandi has a strong set of fans here, and its a pleasure meeting every one of them.

I’m hard-of-hearing, and am usually pretty anti-social because of it (tough to hear in clubs!). But today i was totally in my element, and was able to talk to anyone i pleased. That alone made my day, i forget that I’m actually a chatter-box!

One of the great things about the zoo show, is that you can see the soundcheck. Last year people actually walked up to the stage to watch it, this year was better secured. My plans for running amouck around the field were foiled. That didn’t keep me from enjoying myself though, and before long i was dancing up a storm. I haven’t danced in YEARS, it use to be all i ever did at shows (and still managed to take pictures!). The band played about 5 songs…. including their beatles cover, “i’ve just seen a face” and the new song “pride and joy”. GAWD…i have been waiting FOREVER to hear pride and joy, and nearly exploded on the spot. That’s definitely a memory I’m gonna keep with me

My “storm buddy”, Deb, joined me for the show, and hasn’t seen Brandi for years… She was with me for my 2nd brandi show back in 2003, and has been listening to me talk about her ever since. Deb has meant to see her, its just never happened… though she has been around for the time brandi sung the anthem at the Storm games 🙂 Well needless to say, i was overjoyed to have her with me again. She was pretty surprised by how much shes grown, and can’t get use to the long hair…lol.
Right on! I finally feel validated for my years of loyalty!

here’s what she wrote to me that night:
thanks for a great evening. brandi’s voice is freaking awesome, so clean and
pure. great stage presence, very natural, yet commanding. easy to see she
truly enjoys herself and her audience.

The only bummer is that Brandi’s shows have been having a “no camera policy” lately. NO!!!!! I’ve been taking photos of her for 3 years now, and its honestly one of my fave things to do in this world. I like taking photos of other artists too, but its definitely not the same. Cameras were getting caught all around me. Somehow i was able to keep mine hidden between my legs and still get shots. Looks like its time to find me a job, that would grant me a photo pass!

The other highlight, besides hearing “pride and joy” twice?? Getting to hear “fortunate son!” I always did like the rockers, and the band did AWESOME with it. Lots of smiling faces in the crowd after that one 🙂

No more brandi for the rest of the summer…. rats. I’ve been SO spoiled this year… its gonna be a long summer, and fall dates seem so far away!

This is a simple little animation I was working on while learning #mohoanimation program. Quite a beast of a program! I've barely touched on what it can do. I'm enjoying it though. 🙂 #moho #mohonewbies #prideart #prideartwork #prideanimation #pridebunny #bunnyanimation #rabbitanimation #pride2022 #animationbeginner #animationart #priderabbit
Alright, lets try this again! I created this short Alright, lets try this again! I created this short video last month for #callipeg they have a monthly “theme” short animation you can participate in. Was my first time, and busted my ass to meet the submission deadline for “Sports”. What happened when I saw the compilation video? I found out I submitted a “rough sketch” video on mistake! DOH!!! LOL Oh well… turns out today is the first day of Woman’s World Curling 2022 event, so that works too. :) This was a lot of fun, first time playing with character expressions. You’ll have to watch it 4 times just to see all the details though lol. #thisissilly #callipeganimation #ilovethisapp #animationipad #animation2d #animationsports #animatedsports #catsrule #catcheater #throwacatinit #putacatonit #usacurling #usacurling2022 #olympiccurling2022 #catcurling #catanimation #catsports #deafartist #deafanimator #everythingneedsacat
