Getting to see Brandi in CA, has been a dream come true. Shes getting too large in Seattle, and i don’t like sharing 🙂 Little did i realize that shes growing quite a fanbase in Los Angeles….. but at least the clubs are still small. For now!
San Fransisco and Los Angeles are my old stomping grounds, so i couldn’t wait to see her “at my home”.
It was a loooooong drive to SF from portland, but the ass cramp was totally worth it. I may not talk alot, but i enjoyed meeting all the “again today” forum members for pre-show drinks. You all were a great bunch of people. And the show of course was fantastic. Brandi rocked out on a electric guitar during “the story”, and was my first chance to hear “losing heart”. I didnt realize that she wrote it while depressed, and was questioning if her heart was still “into this” (forgot exact verbage).
Fast forwarding to LA, i was joined by one of my oldest friends…….. at this point of the tour i was getting a little homesick and lonely, and he was absolutely the most perfect person i could have seen. We use to be “concert buddies”, having met one night when we both snuck backstage at a liz phair show YEARS ago. He’s been a constant friend and i love him to pieces….. I’ve been trying to get him to see brandi for YEARS now. It took me coming 1000 miles to finally drag him to one. The guy was floored, and first thing out of his mouth was him asking when the next one was…lol. I told you!
I wrapped up the tour by seeing brandi on Jay Leno, with my friend E. That was the most surreal thing i have ever seen…. was literally like i walked into a tv set. The setup is exactly like how you see on tv…. (why was i thinking somehow it wouldn’t be?) There was 7 “again today” members that i witnessed sitting around the audience (holds 451). They all got to sit on the side where brandi was…. lucky’s. Jay comes out to talk to the crowd, and briefly talk about how “the show works”. Its live to tape. We wait for commercial breaks, don’t yell out to the guests, and be sure to laugh at the monolouge. I found all the “fake laughing” pretty humorous. The tv band plays during the commercial breaks, so theres nothing extra to the interview that the home audience doesnt get to see. Of course brandi rocked, and leno stood on the side of the stage to watch her…. The band was wearing the same thing they wore at last nights show…….. and the jacket has been in the same style that she has been wearing since portland. Nice to see that the whole purpose behind the paperdolls is still relevant, we’ll still be memorizing their outfits 🙂
I spent all of today going through photos/video. Borrowing my friends camera for the tour definitely worked out better…… Course i’ll be continuing my quest for a camera thats both small/and excellent in low-light……. snowshoe from the board seems to have found it.
Damn you, Rhianon! I really need to go to bed but HAD to sneak a peek at the latest blog… your photos ROCK!!! But now I’m so buzzed I won’t be able to sleep at all….
A request tho- couldja put up a link to a larger version of the pic from Leno? That is a wicked professional shot, by the way- have you considered becoming a pro photog???
DUH- I just realized the photo is from TV (alas, the little NBC logo on bottom). But your other photos ROCK!!
LOL…. good catch. I defintally didnt take it. Cameras were allowed in the building, but couldnt be used. I was too far away to get a good shot anyway
What’s it like to be home again, Cinderella? 😉
